Total Lunar Eclipse of a Super Full Moon

This coming Sunday, a total eclipse of a full moon coincides with a supermoon. This phenomenon won’t happen again until 2033, so we are taking advantage of this learning opportunity! I made a lap book and observation chart (free download) to help direct our learning. We did ‘the inside’ of the lap book this week: learning about the moon, phases of the moon, men on the moon, eclipses, and specific vocabulary for our observation this Sunday. We also spent one day to focus our literacy studies on moon-related themes and kept a reading log. We attempted to make the phases of the moon out of jello. I think they turned out only ok, but the kids LOVED it, so I guess it was a win. 🙂
