I am THAT homeschooling mom. You know, the one who tends to bite off more than she can chew because she wants her kids to have every opportunity to learn about everything. Yeah. A few weeks ago, I was looking at our already full schedule and noticed that I didn’t include Geography. What to do? So I started looking. It would have to be simple, flexible, and require little prep time. Just at the time, I was given the opportunity to review a geography curriculum by Let’s Go Geography. It has met our needs well, and the kids LOVE it.
Let’s Go Geography
Let’s Go Geography is designed to study one country per week for a 36 week school year. Each week I get an email with a link to login to access the materials about that week’s country. Over the course of the year, you will study some countries from most continents as well as regions of the United States. Once you log in, you will open a PDF that contains all the printables, links, and lesson plans for that country.
Each lesson follows this basic itinerary:
You will study the location of the country: What other countries border it? What bodies of water are close? You will color the maps, glue flags on the continent map or in your passport, and discuss other basic facts.
Then there are a series of links to videos that allow the student to really explore the country’s landscape, exports, people, music, and culture.
Further Aids Provided:
- List of craft materials needed
- Library references
- Extended Learning option of a Travel Journal
- Web links to read more information
- Printables: Notebooking pages, maps, flags, craft instructions, pictures for photo album, etc.
A Three-Year Plan
This program offers a 3-year world tour outline where your student will be exposed to many countries of each continents. Of course, they do not cover every single one of the 195 countries in the world, but your student will be exposed to a great sampling. Check out the World Tour 3-year Plan below.
A yearly subscription is only $21.99 and you can use it for your whole family or even the co-op class you teach.
It is a great curriculum to use for multiple grades at once.
Open and Go
I am able to open the PDF, print the pages I need, and teach the lesson. I don’t have to put a lot of extra time finding books and other materials if I don’t have the time or coming up with ways to visually demonstrate the lesson — It’s all there ready to go!
The kids LOVE it. They are so excited when it’s Geography Class and beg to do more when it’s done. That is good enough for me!
We will be continuing with this great geography curriculum for the remainder of this year and quite possibly for the 3–year World Tour. Have you used Let’s Go Geography? I would love to hear about it. Comment or upload a picture below. If you would like to try it out, check out the current specials here. Happy Traveling!
Till Next Time,
