IKnowIt.com is an amazing, online resource for targeting math skills in students grades K – 5. With a family subscription, you set up each of your children, and then you can assign and monitor their progress through the lessons. Lessons are automatically graded and recorded.
As teachers and parents, we can assign lessons for extra practice in a particular area such as ‘fractions’ or ‘money’ or target a specific skill within that area like ‘fractions of shapes’ or ‘making change.’ Students are also not restricted to lesson in their grade level, but they can be assigned any of the lessons in any grade. You can assign higher level lessons to challenge your student or lower lessons to help build a stronger foundation. Choose the level that is most appropriate for your student. Assigning lessons is extremely easy:
Scope & Sequence
I was able to use this program effectively with both my second grader and my fourth grader. I was able to choose which skills I wanted them to work on from the lists of skills provided for each grade Kindergarten through fifth.
Here is an example of a typical scope and sequence. These are the lessons for a second grader:
Another reason I was excited to do this review is that math can get tedious for my kids. Occasionally, they need to be taught the same lesson a different way. IKnowIt.com provided a way for me to present skill-specific lessons to help supplement the kid’s main math curricula. The new format alleviated some of the boredom, and they were able to show their learning in a fun way.
My students are not stuck within a set of grade-specific lessons. I am able to choose whatever level — higher or lower — that will best accommodate the unique needs of my student.
I love how I can pull up IKnowIt.com on my laptop or tablet for easy, on-the-go schooling in the car or at the coffee shop.
Easy Progress Monitoring
The ease of assigning lessons and being able to monitor my kids’ progress through the math curricula is awesome. Anything that can free up some of my time is greatly appreciated.
Fun, Computer Lessons
My kids love digital lessons and will jump at the chance to get on the computer. Happy kids doing math? Yes, please!
